Cube i9 Review

Last year, CUBE has launched Cube i7 Core M tablet pc, which has played an important role in promoting the domestic high-performance tablet development, And now, Cube release a new Win10 ultrabook -- Cube i9, which is equipped with Intel's full new Skylake-Y processor.



Compared with the stunning of i7, the new i9 has added many highlights, not only the overhaul of processor platform, but the screen size is also further expanded. Moreover, the new entrants of Type-C interface and angle adjustable magnesium alloy frame are obviously attracting.

Cube i9 Keyboard



Like most of 2 in 1 tablets, it also adopts Magnetic docking design, which can be used once inserted, very convenient.



Cube i9 charger output spec is 12V/2.5A. The charging speed is much faster than most of tablets.



Dark Blue magnesium alloy bottom case process is more detailed and its design basically continues the style of most other 2-in-1 tablets. i9 whole thickness is 9.15mm, and 970g weight. Due to a larger screen than Cube i7, it is slightly 100g heavier, but thickness controlled in a substantially uniform level.



At the bottom of the back shell. it is added with stent design, which can stand firmly on the desktop.

There are two levels that can be adjusted with the opening angle, magnesium alloy frame is also very durable.



Original keyboard can either completely flat on the desktop, or inclined at an angle, relying on the magnetic stripe, adsorbed at the bottom side of the screen.



At the factory, CUBE i9 has been covered with a thin screen protector, both the border and width is moderate. 12.2-inch 1920 x 1200 IPS panel specifications are in line with the mainstream, which will provide a relatively good perception of the experience.



Cube i9, as a tablet, its keys continue the traditional design, the power button and volume control bar are all at the left top.

Except the TF card slot, DC port and earphone jack, there is also a standard USB 3.0 port and a Type-C USB port. There is no standard USB3.0 port at the previous Generation Cube i7 Flagship. And the emerging Type-C interface is very consistent with the current trend, which not only featured with positive and negative characteristics for inserting, but also can fulfil video output by extensions. In view of it, the machine is not equipped with additional HDMI interface.



CUBE i9 ultrabook is equipped with a dual-channel speaker, which has a good sound quality for listening to music and watching movies.



5.0MP Back Camera



Cube i9 is pre-installed with the latest Windows 10 operating system, which will boot very quickly, you can enter into the main interface within 10 seconds after press the power button. And after fully charged, the system display available time will be more than 6 hours.



The 64-bit Windows 10 Home Edition operating system will automatically complete the genuine activate verification when connected with network.



4GB dual channel memory is sure to meet the basic daily needs. Compared with the previous Core M processor, its memory speed is much faster.



This i9 tablet is built in 128GB SSD storage, the actual remaining disc space is 106GB, you can divide a separation zone to place the media files.



The graphics that Cube i9 used is still integrated graphics, and the specific model is Intel HD Graphics 515. In theory, it should have 24 EU unit (above test results show 23), the maximum dynamic frequency  of this graphics card is 850MHz, which has increased 50Hz compared with the Intel HD Graphics 5300 of Cube i7 tablet. The new GPU performance has improved 41%.



In the famous 3D Mark 11 test, under 720P resolution performance mode, Cube i9 overall ratings break one thousand, compared with Cube i7's less than 800 scores result, it has a very significant upgrade, making us more expected for its gaming performance.



On the 12.2 inches FHD Cube i9, you can load all kinds of professional programs like Photoshop software depends on your demands.



On the battery life, 5000mAh Cube i9 battery capacity is almost the same as Cube i7 . After fully charged, it can be last for more than 6 hours while without turning on other operations, if open a game, the estimated time available will be reduced to less than 4 hours. Verdict:

Compared with the previous generation of Cube i7, the new CUBE i9 has been further improved on the performance, especially graphics capability is much stronger. In terms of product design, i9 is added with the stent design. Moreover, the standard USB interface is also more practical, and the wider field of view display is also in line with the development trend of large-size flat. Among the basic use, there are no obvious BUG, only troubled with the TF card compatible. In total, the overall experience is more satisfactory. Cube Tablet and Intel has held a grand conference in Beijing on January, 14, 2016, of which the theme is "Core-M PC Tablet Era". Cube Official has been always devoted to creating more products with intimate experience from the user point of view to study and produce new products. And now, it has launched 2-in-1 tablet pc with better experience. We believe that the Cube i9 will gain a lot of popularity of its full new Intel Skylake Gen6 Core-M 6Y30 Processor, lower power consuption, full new Type-C USB port and the fluent operating experience.

From the Conference we can know that Skylake is Intel's Gen6 Processor, which adopts 14nm process. Skylake is the smallest quad core processor, both the power consumption and heat have effectively controlled. And the package substrate of Skylake becomes thinner, only 0.8mm.

Intel's official data shows that the top mode of Skylake processor is 10% faster than the Cube i7 Core M-4790K processor, 20% faster than the Cube i7 Core M-4770K processor, and 30% faster than the Cube i7 Core M-3770K processor. Though the upgrade magnitude is not too obvious compared with the Gen4 Intel Core M processor. However, if you still use the Gen3 Intel Core M IvyBridge, you can consider the upgrade.
